It protects your work surface and makes cleanup dramatically easier than working on bare tables or disposable parchment. With proper care, a good silicone mat can last for years. Here's how to keep yours in top shape.

Why Silicone Mats Are Worth Caring For

Unlike parchment paper, silicone mats are built to be reused. The dynamic surface repels trichomes while the underside grabs onto your tabletop. Silicone resists resin and concentrates — meaning residue sits on top rather than getting stuck.

Everyday Cleaning: After Each Session

  1. Collect your trim and kief first. Before wiping, pick out the trim and scrape or fold the mat gently to collect the kief. Don't let valuable material go into the trash.
  2. Wipe Down. Using isopropyl alcohol (70%), you can spray the mat, or soak a paper two and wipe it down.
  3. Lint Roller. Like the gloves, mats can attract unwanted lint and threads, so it is a good idea to give it a good roll with the lint roller after cleaning. These mats are perfect for use with all things concentrate, like BHO and rosin presses.

What to Avoid

  • Harsh chemicals. Strong solvents can degrade silicone over time. Stick with isopropyl alcohol (70%)
  • Folding sharply. Store your mat rolled to keep dust away, not folded with a sharp crease. Repeated sharp folding can weaken the material at the fold line.

Storage Tips

How you store your mat between sessions matters as much as how you clean it:

  • Store rolled loosely and in a plastic bag — never folded
  • Keep away from direct sunlight for long-term storage
  • Store clean and dry
